Slow Roast Shoulder of Pork
Cook time: 6 hours Prep time: 25 minutes Serves: 7-8 People
Ingredients
1 pork shoulder on the bone

Rub:
1 tablespoon of paprika
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of mustard powder
Salt & Pepper
Olive oil

Sauce:
3 cups of tomato ketchup
1 cup of cider vinegar
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of water
2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoon mustard powder

Method:
-
Place all the ingredients for the rub in a bowl and mix together. Rub this over the pork and leave to rest in the fridge.
-
Combine your ingredients for the sauce in your slow cooker or pot that you will be cooking in.
-
Place the pork in the sauce.
-
If you are cooking in the slow cooker then this can be done on a low heat for 8 -9 hours
-
In the oven cook at 140 for 6 hours covered with a lid or tin foil to keep the moisture in.
-
Once cooked this should pull apart
-
We like to serve it with a brioche bun and some homemade chips, salad and coleslaw but it’s very versatile and can be served anyway you fancy.
